Cumberland Plateau

River canyons, flat-topped mountains, and sandstone cliffs characterize the broad tableland just west of the Appalachians.  Farther west of the true plateau lies the karst country of central Kentucky, home to sinkholes, dry creeks, and Mammoth Cave, the world's longest with 350 miles of known passageways.
